Wine Trainers Ltd may be a new name, but its founder, Martin Straus is not only passionate about wine but has a wealth of experience both in wine and wine education. He achieved his first wine qualification in 1974 (the Wine & Spirit Education Trust Certificate), and entered the wine trade in 1980, when he passed the WSET Advanced Certificate in 1982 and Diploma in 1984.

His wine career includes nine years with Hedges & Butler (then the market leaders), followed by twelve years as a wine education consultant trading as Winecraft. He was a pioneer in wine & food pairing, presenting at the first Restaurant Show in 1990 and the United States Embassy in London. After following other business interests from 2000 to 2007, he established Wine Trainers Ltd in January 2008.

Wine Trainers Ltd is an Approved Programme Provider for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, the lead wine training body in the UK, and Martin Straus is a WSET Recommended Tutor, one of some 200 in the world.

Wine Trainers Ltd also run wine & food workshops, corporate hospitality wine packages and other events. We are in the process of organising tours to English and continental vineyards, and to malt whisky distilleries.

We aim to satisfy three target markets:

• The Corporate Host and Guest

We do not sell wine and our objective is to provide impartial wine training and education to the highest standards, resulting in the ability to make effective wine decisions.
